DOUSMAN STUDENT MAKES BIRTHDAYS ABOUT GIVING!!! Since turning 7, Connor has taken a different approach to birthdays. It was that first-grade year, when schools were closed, that he asked his mother “since I can’t bring treats to my friends at school, can we bring them to your friends at work?" His mother worked at a hospital and the kind gesture was so appreciated during COVID, that Conner has made giving his “tradition,” bringing birthday treats to first responders. This year Connor visited the Summit Police Department. The deputy called Connor's family to convey how touched they were by his kindness after a tough call the previous evening. SIGN UP NOW FOR SUMMER ACADEMY!! Our summer programming is a great way to keep students busy, learning, and growing all year. SAVE THE DATE FOR HONK – A Musical Tale of "The Ugly Duckling!" Since it first hatched in 1993, Stiles & Drewe's musical, Honk!, has winged its way around the world in over 8,000 productions and in many different languages. Winner of multiple awards, including the 2000 Olivier Award for Best Musical, this heartwarming celebration of being different is sure to delight audiences of all ages with its sparkling wit and memorable score. Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out that being different is not a bad thing to be. With its bouncing score and universal story, this touching musical with plenty of heart will captivate audiences of all ages.

ENROLL IN KM 4 AND 5K NOW!!! The open enrollment window closes on 4/30 and it is important to apply and secure a spot before it re-opens in summer, as enrollment is first-come, first-served. We also need district residents to enroll in 4K so we can meet your choice of schools and accommodate wrap care requests. There is no need to enroll in KM 5K if your child was in KM 4K this year. CARING IS ALWAYS ON DISPLAY AT DOUSMAN!! Check out the All-School collaborative project Mrs. Lea organized to coincide with Valentine's Day and our theme of the month which is Caring. Students worked with their buddy class to make faces on their hearts. The different colors represent the different grade levels here at Dousman. The 7 1/2 foot wide x 9 foot high heart will be on display in the front hallway across from the gym entrance for the foreseeable future.

KM SHOWCASE DRAWS LARGE CROWD!! We were thrilled when more than 100 families took time to attend the KM Showcase this year. We will continue to learn from the experience and expand this annual event! Thank you to the presenters for providing over 50 exhibits from all of our KM schools, clubs, teams, and activities. The demonstrations from computer science, Makerspace, robotics, and digital design were really engaging, and the art gallery of student work was impressive. We also want to thank our community partners: Avid Jewelry, Chick-fil-A, Culver's, Dockhounds, Mama Ds, MDs, and Pizza Guy for the generous contributions to our gift bags and prize drawing. Winners were drawn and notified yesterday and we have some very happy recipients!
KM ELEMENTARY DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!!! The theme was a night in Paris and more than 340 people were in attendance! There were lots of great activities including crafts, games, and of course the dance itself!! Thank you to Amanda Gill for organizing this fantastic event; to Chris Otto for DJing; and to the many KMHS students who volunteered.

FEBRUARY 15TH IS NATIONAL SRO DAY!!!! Our student resource officers, Officer Sonenberg and Officer Catania, are a huge part of our KM Family. They are also an instrumental force in maintaining school safety, culture and structure. Both have been involved in important initiatives to protect students from online predators, bullying, and harmful substances. We are so grateful for their presence in our schools! SAVE THE DATE FOR THE 3rd ANNUAL SHOOT FOR A CURE!!! Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 1:00 – 2:30pm at Kettle Moraine High School / West Gym. Led by Kettle Moraine Varsity Coach Brian Richert, the KM Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball teams will host a skills and drills clinic for 3-8th grade boys and girls. This event will include fun games and drills for all-level players. This is a fundraiser to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), an organization devoted to funding critical research to treat and cure blood cancers. The KM Varsity teams are doing their part to support this cause – and all proceeds of this event will go directly to LLS Wisconsin. KMMS BAND, ORCHESTRA AND CHOIR STUDENTS TOUR KM ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS!!!! This great activity allows elementary students to see the various groups perform and learn more about participating in music themselves when they get to middle school. It was facilitated by Mrs. Kuehn), Mrs. Weber, Mr. Martin & Mrs. Hassemer. We love activities that bring KM students of all ages together!
