KMHS COACH STEVEN LEWIS ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT AFTER 27 YEARS!!! Coach Lewis has put in nearly three decades between high school and middle school track and high school cross country, coaching a total of 45 total seasons. He spent 20 seasons as girls head track coach, six as assistant coach for the middle school track program, 15 as girls head cross country coach, and two as girls assistant coach. He also served as boys head cross country coach for two seasons. Lewis was named 2016 Girls Coach of the Year by the Wisconsin Cross Country Coaches Association. He is one of only a handful of Wisconsin high school track coaches to achieve Level 3 Certification in individual events from USA Track and Field in the history of the WIAA. He has presented at the Wisconsin Track Coaches Association Annual Clinic eight times, in the area of coaching development for horizontal jumps and hurdles. Lewis has also served as Wisconsin Cross Country Coaches Association Officer for the past eight years, helping to grow the sport by mentoring new coaches. KMSD is incredibly proud of his top half finishes in a very tough Classic 8 every year as head track coach and all but one year as cross country coach, that is 36 of 37 times!! He had one cross country team make it to state (2016, 3rd place) and twelve seasons where at least one individual qualified. His career winning percentage is over 80% (teams beat) in cross country invitationals, ranking him in the top 5 in the state for all divisions during that 15 year span. He qualified individuals for the state track meet all 20 seasons as head coach, with more than 50 total qualifiers and over 50% medaling by placing in the top six, Over 50% of the years, his teams finished in the top ten at the state meet. Congrats Coach!! Your energy, dedication, and love of stats, will be missed.

Laser Tech is headed to STATE! Congratulations to FTC Robotics Team “Laser Tech” on its victory last weekend at the “Frozen Frenzy” Qualifier in Saint Francis, WI. Laser Tech is now qualified to compete at the State Championship competition at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) on March 2. This will be Laser Tech’s fifth consecutive year competing at the State competition!

Remember 4-wheel drive doesn’t work on ice! Most importantly, give yourself extra time to drive to and from school safely, and go slowly, avoiding dramatic starts, stops or turns!

STELLMACHER NAMED WASBO SCHOOL BUSINESS MANAGER OF THE YEAR!!! KM CFO John Stellmacher was awarded Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials (WASBO) 2024 School Business Manager of the Year today at their State Convention. The ceremony, held at the Milwaukee Hilton, drew school superintendents and business managers from across the state. A former WASBO President, and critical advocate for educational funding, Stellmacher has been a leader in Wisconsin education. Stellmacher is a frequent presenter at both WASBO and WASB conferences. He mentors countless business managers and provides instrumental support to the Southeast Wisconsin Schools Alliance (SWSA), advising on fiscal solvency and providing quality education efficiently.

New Student Registration should not be confused with the annual registration that occurs every summer for students who completed the previous year at a KMSD school. Winter Concerts TONIGHT and TOMORROW NIGHT! The Band Department presents a Winter Concert of traditional band music. We invite you to come and hear the fabulous Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Symphony perform along with special guests from KMMS. Concert Band, Symphonic Band, 7th Grade Band from KMMS, and Jazz Ensemble II-Wednesday, January 17th at 7 pm. Wind Symphony and Jazz Ensemble I along with KMMS 8th Grade students will perform on Thursday, January 18th with a concert time of 7 pm.

The service also provides students with opportunities to learn valuable job skills such as time management, quality of work, and of course computer skills. The Kettle Moraine Environmental Conservation Organization is open to all members of the KMHS campus who are interested in working collaboratively on addressing today's most pressing environmental issues. KMSD LISTENING SESSION ON CLASS SIZES JANUARY 23RD IN THE KMHS LIBRARY FROM 6:30-7:30 pm!!! This listening session is a public forum for KM staff, families and community members to discuss class sizes and measures the district is taking to maintain a proper balance.

KM DECA had a blast competing in, and hosting district 5 for DECA’s Regional Career Development Conference on January 6th! Congratulations to all of the KM DECA members who competed this past Saturday at DECA’s Regional Career Development Conference. KM marketing students upheld the “laser way” and 21 have earned the right to advance to the DECA State Career Development Conference in February. The basketball games are being rescheduled as follows: Girls will make up the game on 1/10/24. Boys will make up the game on 1/16/24. The school board meeting that was scheduled tomorrow will be moved to 1/15/24.
