Grades 3-8 will practice one night per week with Saturday morning games and will be followed by a season ending tournament. MENTORS CREATE ONE KM!!! KMHS Chamber Orchestra students traveled to the middle school to coach 8th Grade Orchestra students in preparing a solo on their instruments. The high school coaches developed instructional strategies that pushed our middle schoolers’ musicianship forward in a BIG way. KMMS PROVIDES THREE PROSTHETIC LEGS FOR AMPUTEES!!! Kelly Weske, has spent her summers working as an international mountain guide since 2012. Her employer also operates a non-profit that cares for children, adults and families with special needs and/or life-changing medical obstacles. Naturally, she has become involved in these efforts, helping to build an orphanage, medical and dental clinic, and woman's support center that is currently under construction. In 2022, they partnered with the nonprofit Hope to Walk to build a Prosthetic Center in Arusha, Tanzania. Ms. Weske was so moved by this work, she introduced their mission to her Healthy & Active Lifestyles students through participating in a virtual 5K fundraiser. Her students have become so invested in making a difference that they raised $750 dollars this year. That is enough to give three people the ability to walk through the use of prosthetic limbs!! Millions of amputees worldwide depend on wheelchairs and crutches, or even crawling, simply because commercial prosthetics ($10,000 - $25,000) are completely out of reach. Hope To Walk’s legs are locally produced, using available materials, for only $250! Thank you Kelly for inspiring our young learners to care about global health initiatives and have the incredible opportunity of changing lives!

KMMS STUDENTS DIG ARCHEOLOGY!!! Mr. Morris' 6th graders had the interesting experience of discovering artifacts in their own archeological dig, held in the middle school library. It was a unique opportunity to uncover, examine, label, and organize their finds!
KM TO LAUNCH 6-12 BOWLING PROGRAM!!!The Kettle Moraine School District is excited to announce that we will expand our High School bowling team into a community education bowling program that will allow middle schoolers to participate. To learn more and contribute to the development of program goals, advisory board, and budgets, join us on October 17th, 2024 at 7:00pm in the Kettle Moraine High School Laser Room, The goal of the meeting is to explain how an advisory board will operate, generate interest, and determine how we can better assist the community.

TRY VOLLEYBALL FOR FREE YOUTH CLINIC!!! We are offering a free camp for KM Youth with TryVolleyball. This Try VB for Free event, partnered with Kettle Moraine High School, is designed to provide kids grades 1st - 8th the opportunity to try volleyball in a FUN, safe environment with trained coaching staff. No experience necessary! There will be plenty of assistance on hand to be sure your child has the best first volleyball experience and answer any questions you might have. What you need: comfortable clothes and playing shoes (like what you'd wear to gym class), sater bottle, and a desire to have fun! The clinic will be Sunday, September 22nd 8:30am - 9:00am with clinic play time from 9:00am - 10:30am at Kettle Moraine High School. KM STUDENT EARNS EAGLE SCOUT!!! Charlie Dickenson IV has earned his Eagle Scout rank at the age of 13 (among the youngest 2% among only 6% of Scouts who earn this rank). This multiyear journey is one of the most involved and transformative experiences a young person can have. During his eight year experience, Charlie has completed first aid, CPR/AED, and wilderness first aid certification. He has taken the challenging National Youth Leadership Training (pack and paddle) course and uses the techniques learned to lead his Troop; led his Troop as Chaplain’s Aide, Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Senior Patrol Leader. He has given over 135 hours of service. to his community. He has also developed resilience by hiking 222 miles, camping 92 nights in all conditions, and earning 46 merit badges. Charlie’s Eagle Scout service project planned, organized, and led a team to remove boulders and build much-needed stairs at the Wildlife in Need Center in Oconomowoc, allowing for safer care of injured wild animals. His goal setting and time management skills have prepared him for high school and achieving his goal of attending West Point Military Academy (class of 2032).

TRACK AND FIELD MINI CAMP!!! Learn by Doing Track & Field Mini-Clinic - Grades 5-8 (grade just completed) July 16 and 17, 5:15-6:30pm at the KMHS Foot & Ankle Associates Track at Culver’s Stadium. NATIONAL HISTORY DAY AWARDS!!! Two KM students won the bronze medal at an international history competition at the University of Maryland. Krin B. and Emma M., both of HS^2, earned this distinction with their documentary, "The Repeal of the Fairness Doctrine: An Irreversible Turning Point in American Media," arguing that the 1987 repeal of the Fairness Doctrine was a pivotal event in American media. The doctrine had been the subject of national debates about its constitutionality, and its repeal marked a significant shift allowing media to become unregulated and manipulated by outside interests. They earned top honors from a group of nearly 500,000 students from multiple continents, with 2,500 students advancing to the national level. Avery G. and Faye M., of KMMS won the state competition in the junior group documentary category in April with their documentary, "Bruce Springsteen's Historic Concert in East Berlin on July 19, 1988." They claimed that this concert was a significant catalyst for cultural and societal rebellion, contributing to the collapse of the Berlin Wall. It was one of several turning points that toppled a government, ended the Cold War, and transformed the global landscape. NHS involves presenting a process paper, bibliography, documentaries and being interviewed by a panel of judges, including professors, historians, and legislators. This completes a year-long project for these students. Mational History Day is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year!

KMMS ATTENDS BAND FESTIVAL!!! Our KMMS 8th Grade Bands traveled to the Beyond the Notes Festival at the Kalahari Resort in the Wisconsin Dells. Students performed a concert, participated in clinics, received feedback on their performance, and enjoyed time in the water and adventure parks. The students did a wonderful job!
DISTRICT FESTIVAL OF BANDS!!! Families and performers filled West Gym for the Festival of Bands. This is the annual event where KMHS and KMMS band students combine their talents into one amazing community event. Thanks to Mike Brickl for capturing his wonderful evening.
