DADDY DAUGHTER LUAU DANCE WAS SUCCESS!!! The annual Daddy Daughter Dance was a great event and raised a lot of money for Key Club. The club decked out the gym and organized, games, crafts, and photo booths to make it a really special event. This is a lovely event for young girls to celebrate with the important men in their lives!!

KM EXPLORE COME SEE IT LIVE EVENT!!! Drop by the Wales Elementary Campus from 9-10 am on January 29th to visit the KM Explore Charter and learn more about our amazing staff and students. Explore focuses on meeting the individual needs of all students by creating social capital and having our staff, families, and community partners target what kids need. We foster a growth mindset where it is okay to fail or make a mistake. That’s part of the process of learning. We want students to develop the habits that are going to make them successful citizens, such as persistence, managing impulsivity, and listening with empathy and understanding. ONE KM!!! Retail and Product Design students held a focus group with Wales Elementary 4th and 5th graders to create shirts for KMmade.com. They worked with Mrs. Racine and Mrs. Blawat to facilitate the project and students got to chose their designs. The shirts should be available at the end of the month.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT STUDENTS ARE ON THE MOVE!!! On December 17, Ms. Jordan's Child Development class visited Ms Braun's 4K and Ms. Peter's 5K rooms at Wales Elementary to read to the students, play games, and help with lunch and recess duty. The high school students were able to put their classroom learning into practice while learning a lot from the 4K and 5K students!
KM YOUTH AND MIDDLE SCHOOL CHEER RISE TO THE TOP!!! The KM Youth & Middle School Cheer program competed this last weekend at Waukesha South in the Southside Showdown on Saturday December 14th, 2024. The Little Lasers Gold K-2 team placed 2nd, Little Lasers Blue 3-5 team placed 3rd, and KM Junior Lasers 6-8 placed 1st in their respective divisions! Great job Lasers!
PIONEERS GARDENTO TABLE EVENT SERVES UP STUDENT LEARNING!!! This year, the Pioneers have been very interested in the school garden. They harvested crops in early fall and made “scissor salsa,” pesto, beet chips, vegetable soup, and marinara. They extended their learning by visiting the West Allis farmer’s market and learning more about fruits and vegetables. At this point, the Pioneers decided they wanted to create a “Garden to Table” meal to share with their families using what they grew in the garden. The Pioneers decided on pasta with pesto, marinara, bread sticks, salad, and desserts. They researched fall lettuce and experimented with growing lettuce in the greenhouse, outside, or under grow lights. They researched and wrote informational pieces to showcase at the dinner. With the help and guidance of Jim Rydzik from Pizza Guy, they made homemade breadsticks. They created invitations, wrote and produced commercials, and used math to determine costs. The Pioneers worked on their oral presentation skills on the night of the big event by greeting and presenting the menu to their families. They also were in charge of serving and cleaning up. It was a great night!

KM ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND KMHS STUDENT GOVERNMENT NEED YOUR SHOE BOXES AND YOUR DONATIONS!!! KM elementary schools and high school student government are participating in a Friendsgiving collection that will conclude on November 26th. Donated or purchased items will be collected into shoe boxes. These "shoe boxes for Santa" will then be personally delivered to students at WD Williams Elementary School in Swannanoa North Carolina. These students have been terribly impacted by hurricanes, tornados, and flooding. Most were left with nothing. Our goal is to gather up much-needed clothing items like hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, socks, and also a few fun things like toys, art supplies, or puzzles. The school has 450 students at 4 elementary schools, so our goal is to meet and even exceed that need. Drop off your donations at any KM elementary school or at KMHS!
